The scope of this ministry continues to evolve as new opportunities are identified. Currently included are the Homeless feeding, Christmas Assistance, Hands of Grace and one off acts of kindness. The goal is to spread God's love and Grace's compassion to others.
The homeless ministry is lead by Pete Wallace. Each 1st and 3rd Saturday's each month meals are financed, prepared and handed out to those in need, along with some fellowship and exposure to faith. On the first Saturday, a food truck is located in the parking lot at Great Southern, near Ollie's. On the third Saturday the service is at Jericho on W Broad St. A total of approximately 160 meals monthly are provided by the Grace team. Your assistance is needed in financial contributions to cover the expenses, preparation of menu items and assistance at the meals. Pete can answer questions, accept your donations and schedule your assistance. You can also write checks to Grace with a memo line "homeless ministry".
Hands of Grace is now beginning its second season. Our goal is to match volunteers in very minor categories to simple but pesky jobs that Grace members are unable to accomplish for themselves. Last year 4 requests were responded to including a minor roof repair, basement clean out, garage declutter and yard work. Of course our success is dependent on the talent and availability of volunteers. Forms to request help as well as to volunteer to help others are available at the information table in the narthex.
